How Keto Works

This diet plan has been working for me for much longer than other dieting plans have worked but there are a few important things to know about any diet not just this one, But this article will be about keto dieting specifically. Everything I have learned about keto dieting has been by nutritionist. I did go to a nutritionist the first two months of trying this diet form out. 

What is keto dieting? How does keto dieting work?

Well your body fuels itself with glucose for the most part and the other way the body can fuel itself is with fat. So the way keto dieting works. You eliminate carbohydrates and sugar from your diet so that your body may enter ketosis and then only use fat to fuel itself. Thus allowing you to lose weight if you diet properly and why in this diet you are allowed to eat a little bit more fatty foods than other diet forms. 

 

What is the proper way to diet using keto? 

 People may think that keto dieting is just filling yourself up with fatty meats and bacon and cheese but that is definitely not the way to go. In keto dieting you should be eating lots of vegetables. I personally found that if I didn’t eat enough vegetables, I would get constipated. I think it is pretty easy to get constipated when you are on this diet, I swam 5 days a week as my exercise and I would still get constipated from time to time when I lowered my vegetable intake. 

  1. Make sure to eat enough vegetables.                                                                                                       My favorite vegetables to eat were lettuce. Honestly I don’t know why I didn’t ask my nutrientist but he recommended I ate romaine lettuce and told me to avoid iceberg lettuce.                                                    Cucumbers, they are low in calories and help when you’re feeling snackish. Spinach, avocado, tomatoes. (Yes I know tomatoes are technically a fruit)             
  2. Drink lots of water                                                                                                                                  i Think in any diet you should be drinking at least 2-3 liters of water daily because there are so many benefits to drinking water. Also you tend to pee or sweat the weight off so drinking enough water helps.
  3. Protein is Important                                                                                                                            Your protein intake is also important. Make sure to eat lots of chicken, fish, steaks, eggs. Cheese and Nuts are also good protein but they also have high fats. So if you are eating lots of bacon or avocado in your diet you have to be carful.
  4. Limit your fruit intake                                                                                                                       Fruits are so yummy but its because they have high natural sugars. Carbohydrates and Sugar is what we need to avoid to stay in ketosis and for this diet to work to lose weight. My dietarian allowed me two oranges in a day or 10 strawberries, 1 guayaba, 1 peach. Some fruits have more sugar than others so you have to ask your nutrientist or  if you don’t have enough money to hire one be conscious of how much sugar and net carbs your fruit has to not leave ketosis.
